Seasoned Real Estate Attorney Matthew Jordan to Lead Firm’s Expansion
into the Vibrant Charlotte Market
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Mar. 12, 2026) – Longleaf Law Partners announced the opening of its new office in Charlotte, N.C., along with the creation of its Charlotte team with the addition of three lawyers. A leading North Carolina-based commercial real estate and finance law firm founded in Raleigh, N.C., the firm assists clients with transactions across the country, with a focus on the Southeast. The Charlotte office is located in the Southpark neighborhood at 5935 Carnegie Boulevard, Suite 101.
The Charlotte expansion is led by Matthew Jordan, the office’s managing partner, who recently joined the firm after spending eight years as in-house senior legal counsel at Kayne Anderson Real Estate, a leading commercial real estate private equity firm. Jordan is accompanied by Laura Laporte, a commercial real estate lawyer who joins the firm from Moore & Van Allen; Kenya Parrish, a finance lawyer formerly with K&L Gates; and Sydney Brown, who will serve as the Charlotte office coordinator and administrator.
“Longleaf is committed to building our firm around the markets and relationships that matter most to our clients, and Charlotte has been a focal point of that strategy,” said Jamie McCaskill, managing partner of Longleaf Law Partners. “Opening a Charlotte office deepens our presence in North Carolina’s two most dynamic commercial real estate hubs and allows us to better support clients investing across the region. We are especially excited for Matt Jordan to lead our Charlotte office, and to have Kenya Parrish and Laura Laporte join him as we build a team positioned for long-term growth in the area.”
“I’m excited to help Longleaf Law launch our new team in Charlotte,” Jordan said. “I have worked with the partners at this firm throughout my career and appreciate their mix of a sophisticated practice with an entrepreneurial culture. Our team is sharp but focuses on understanding the deal from our client’s point of view and getting transactions closed. I pride myself on practicing in the same manner, so Longleaf was a natural fit for this chapter in my career.”
Jordan added: “It has been a lot of fun returning to Charlotte after eight years in Florida, reconnecting with friends and the local real estate community, and being part of the city’s future growth by partnering on new developments with our clients.”
Jordan brings extensive experience in developments, joint ventures, portfolio transactions and sophisticated financing structures. During his time at Kayne Anderson and previously at Troutman Pepper, he closed over 200 transactions, including programmatic joint venture agreements, ground-up developments, and portfolio dispositions and recapitalizations. His experience also includes leading lender-side financings – such as mortgage loans, mezzanine loans and preferred equity loans – and platform financings, including note-on-note facilities, master repurchase programs, joint ventures and other capital markets transactions.
“Matt’s addition allows us to expand our representation of institutional equity providers and debt funds,” McCaskill said. “His background with private equity firms, debt funds and other large institutional players complements our existing work and will help us strengthen these relationships in Charlotte and beyond.”
While Longleaf Law Partners is deeply rooted in North Carolina, the firm also represents clients on complex commercial real estate transactions across the United States.
