Matthew Jordan

Matthew Jordan, Partner

Matt is an accomplished real estate lawyer with nearly two decades of experience, including a primary role in over $35 billion in real estate transactions. He currently leads transactions for the firm’s Charlotte office. Matt’s areas of expertise include acquisitions and dispositions, ground-up development, construction contracts, joint ventures, loan originations, ground leases, commercial leases and portfolio transactions. Matt also has extensive experience with borrower and lender-side representation on acquisition and construction loans, mezzanine loans, preferred equity investments and note on note loans.

During his career, Matt has closed significant transactions in the following sectors: multifamily communities, senior housing communities, student housing communities, large and small bay industrial buildings, office towers and medical office buildings. His clients value his reputation as a lawyer who works through deals quickly and efficiently, has the expertise to stand up new partnerships and investment platforms, and has the agility and persistence needed to get difficult transactions to closing.

Prior to joining Longleaf Law, Matt was a senior legal counsel at Kayne Anderson Real Estate, a private equity real estate firm, where he led a team that closed over 200 transactions including programmatic joint venture agreements, acquisitions, ground-up developments, portfolio dispositions and recapitalizations. Prior to joining Kayne Anderson, he was an associate at several national law firms in the Raleigh and Charlotte areas, where he represented local developers, REITS, sovereign wealth funds and pension funds in the acquisition, disposition and development of multifamily communities, office towers and industrial buildings.
